Adobe PDF Files will not open in Internet Explorer 11

Hi All,

This is my first post ever from my site and hope you find this useful.

OK if you have a Windows 7 machine that just updated and you can’t seem to open acrobat plugin pdf’s in your internet explorer browser here’s how to fix it.

Type Windows Key + R at the same time to open a window called the Run Screen.

In the window type regedit and hit enter. The Registry Editor window will appear. (Please be careful here because you can mess your machine if you don’t follow what I say, in fact I would back up your registry before going to the next part, if you don’t know how to back up your registry here: Right click on “Computer” and hit Export, give it a file name and save it to where you’ll remember.)

OK now that you backed up your Registry here’s the next step: Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER \software\microsoft\internet explorer\ and highlight main.

Look for TabProcGrowth, if you don’t see it right click and create a new String Value like below.

Next make sure you type TabProcGrowth exactly like this, be mindful of the caps. Double click on it and in the window and under Value data type 1. Hit OK close the editor and restart your computer. That’s it, now when you fire up IE again it will load PDF’s for you in your Adobe Acrobat plugin.
